Job Description<br>Job Title: Senior Researcher (Middle East Desk)<br>Company: Asia-Pacific Strategic Observatory Institute (APSOI)<br>Workplace Type: Remote<br>Employee Location: West Jerusalem, Israel<br>Job Type: Part-time / Project-based<br>Job Description<br>The Asia-Pacific Strategic Observatory Institute (APSOI) is an independent, non-partisan, non-governmental policy research institute founded in 2019 and registered in Taipei. Our research is organized around four core areas: Indo-Pacific Security, Taiwan Strait Strategy, Great Power Relations, and Cross-Strait Relations. We provide objective, context-rich strategic analysis to governments, multinational corporations, and international institutions, and serve as a track-II dialogue platform connecting scholars and practitioners across the Indo-Pacific and beyond.<br>The Middle East is increasingly intertwined with Indo-Pacific security through energy corridors, maritime trade routes, and great power competition. We are seeking a Senior Researcher based in Israel to contribute first-hand analysis on Middle Eastern geopolitics, regional security dynamics, great power engagement in the region, and their implications for the Indo-Pacific. The role will directly support the institute's internal research projects and contribute to policy briefs, working papers, and thematic reports.<br>Compensation & Benefits<br>Payment for each report ranges from $200 to $500, based on quality and depth:<br>$200: Meets standard<br>$350: Exceeds standard<br>$500 plus Bonus: Exceptional quality<br>Key Responsibilities<br>Conduct first-hand research and analysis on Middle Eastern geopolitics and security developments, with a focus on regional conflicts, alliance dynamics, and great power competition in the region;<br>Participate in the institute's internal research projects under the Great Power Relations and Indo-Pacific Security programs, and contribute to collaborative, cross-regional analysis;<br>Analyze the intersection of Middle Eastern developments with Indo-Pacific energy security, maritime trade routes, and strategic competition;<br>Produce policy briefs, working papers, and analytical reports in English, ensuring rigor, objectivity, and policy relevance;<br>Strictly maintain confidentiality of all internal research activities, unpublished findings, project details, and institute business matters; all work produced for APSOI is subject to non-disclosure obligations.<br>Essential Qualifications<br>In-depth understanding of Middle Eastern geopolitics, regional security architecture, and great power engagement in the region;<br>Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in policy research, academia, journalism, or government advisory roles;<br>Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills in English, with the ability to produce clear, evidence-based policy analysis;<br>Strong cross-cultural sensitivity and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholder perspectives;<br>Proven track record of published research or policy analysis on Middle Eastern affairs.<br>Application<br>If you are interested, please send your CV and a representative writing sample to contact@apsoitw.org for further discussion on potential collaboration.
